Dentures are removable false teeth designed to replace your missing teeth comfortably, naturally and with full function.
They can be made to replace a single tooth or a whole set of missing teeth, creating a comfortable long-lasting solution.
Dentures are a non-surgical option, meaning it is suitable for people with unhealthy gums or insignificant jaw bone for dental implants.
For a Full Denture, all upper or lower teeth will need to be removed before the denture can be fitted. Your dentist will wait around 8 weeks for your gum tissue to heal and then the dentures will be secured in place with adhesive. Once fitted, the denture should sit comfortably over your gums and jawbone.
Partial Dentures are used when only a few teeth are missing and usually clip on to your natural teeth for a secure fitting. The partial denture is made with a plastic, nylon or metal plate and the false teeth are secured on that. The partial denture can be easily removed.
In comparison with a conventional denture, implant-retained dentures can be more minimal and stable with greater comfort for the wearer. As well as comfort, implant-retained dentures leave users with more confidence as they can eat more foods that they couldn’t eat before and their speech quality will improve.
The procedure involves placing 2-4 implant fixtures in the lower jaw or at least 4 implant fixtures in the upper jaw. Once the implants have been placed and have healed, press-stud-type attachments can be screwed onto the implants.
The underside of the denture has a housing processed into it, which clips onto the press-stud attachment in the mouth. Like normal dentures, implant retained dentures should be removed at night and cleaned regularly.
Unlike normal dentures, the full implant-retained denture procedure can take quite a while to complete and usually involves two surgeries. The full procedure usually takes from 5-7 months to complete but can take up to a year.

Dentures can be made from acrylic, nylon or metal depending on the type of denture you have. They can be made to replace a single tooth or a whole set of missing teeth , creating a comfortable long lasting solution.
Dentures are an excellent solution to replacing missing teeth. Dentures can improve your smile and confidence, support your face shape and resolve any issues with speech and eating due to missing teeth.
Dentures typically last 5 to 10 years, depending on the material, how well they’re maintained, and changes in your mouth over time.
You should clean your dentures daily using a soft brush and denture cleaner. Avoid hot water and store them in water when not in use to prevent warping.
There may be a short adjustment period, but most people quickly adapt. Practising speech and starting with soft foods can help.
It’s generally recommended to remove dentures at night to give your gums a rest and reduce the risk of infections.
Full dentures replace all the teeth in an arch (upper or lower), while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.
